It was a warm summer's morning on the final day of May 2003. Jim, Troy, Tina
& I were to leave my house by 8am. Troy showed up shortly before 8, and Jim
showed up maybe 5 minutes after...not bad! We got rolling right away. Believe it
or not, we had a civil drive over to the fairgrounds. Not much speeding, no
tickets, & no hit & runs! As we passed through the fairgrounds, I
noticed the truck driving school on the left. Maybe next time, we can challenge
the rigs to a race on their course. We arrived in time for registration, but a
funny thing happened...I was the only one from our group registering! Oh
well...more runs for me. Pop-Top showed up while I was signing up. He brought
along a friend with an ITR. Tidal was the final member to arrive. I think he
needed more beauty sleep than the rest of us! It was officially a practice day,
which has it's benefits. We had four runs in the morning heat, and four more in
the afternoon heat. We only had three runs total at the PCA event. Some of the
cars competing were cool to watch: 350Z, Shelby Cobra, RSX, ITR, Mini, Miata,
Mustang, Camaro, WRX, MR2, and the fastest time of the day was a Volkswagen
Scirrocco(sp)! After my first runs, I had a little time off before I had to work
the course. I was able to hang out with everyone, and get some good video shots.
Tina left with Troy after the third group ran. It was hot & they were spent!
Dave, Jim, Justin, & I took a quick lunch break at Wendy's. That's where we
saw the horse in the back of a pickup! I guess that's better than a horse in the
back of an S. Hopefully, there are some pics of that. Jim took off after lunch.
The rest of us headed back for more punishment from the sun. I waited till my
final run to put up my best time. It happened to be the best time for the novice
class. Dave stuck it out until I was done, snapping photo after photo. I think
Justin took almost as many pics! Anyways, I had a blast, and I hope more of you
TBAers join me in the future. I know I help make us look this good, but I can't
do it alone! See ya next time!
